Don’t just pass science class. Use it to understand and apply the scientific method in other areas of life.

It all starts with a question. You’re curious about something, so you ask about it. In biology and other sciences, answering the question often involves peering into the invisible world—cells, proteins, chemical compounds, and other structures that you need microscopes to see.

So you design an experiment to answer that question, collect evidence using the microscope, analyze the results, and draw conclusions.

This mindset—drawing conclusions based on evidence—will get you far in life. It’s also how you’ll get free.

The Procedure

  1. Choose a topic you’re interested in. The narrower the topic, the better.
  2. Find a problem people who are interested in that topic have. The more serious the problem, the better.
  3. Start a business and create a SaaS product to solve that problem.
  4. Focus on marketing. This is how people discover your product.
  5. Scale your business to millions in revenue or pivot and repeat this procedure until you’re making enough to never need a job or to borrow money. You’re now free.

As you follow these steps, you’ll need to apply the evidence-based mindset you learned in science class to make rational business decisions.

Design Business Experiments to Validate Your Hypotheses

A marketing campaign is an experiment. For example, you can start with this hypothesis: “If I set up a landing page with an offer for a lifetime subscription for 50% off the annual cost, and 500 people view that page over the next 3 months, I can get 30 people to buy a subscription.”

You’d then set up that page and watch it for 3 months. After that, analyze the results: did 500 people view that page? If not, then you need to adjust something, maybe your traffic source, such as paid ads or organic SEO. Otherwise, check the next condition: did 30 people buy a subscription? If not, then you need to adjust something, maybe the offer or the copy. Or maybe the product itself needs tweaking.

If you increased the amount of blogging you did by publishing 3 blog posts per week instead of 1, and because of that, 500 people viewed the page and 30 people bought a subscription, then you have evidence that your system works! Based on that, you can continue what you were doing or increase the parameter you tweaked—blogging, in this case—to get more traffic and sales.

This scientific approach of testing, tweaking, and observing gives you a significant advantage over your competition, who’s not likely to be this systematic.

Find a Mentor

To get free fast, find a mentor who will help you avoid mistakes and guide you in the right direction. They should be someone whom you admire and respect enough to follow their instruction without hesitance.

Finding that mentor takes time. Until you’ve found that perfect fit, learn from books. Each author becomes a mentor who’s condensed a lifetime of experience into a few hours of reading.

Books will give you many perspectives, keeping you independent of any single school of thought. You can choose the advice that fits your situation.

To save time and help you decide which books to read, nothing beats book summaries. Well-crafted book summaries give you the key concepts about a topic so you can perform experiments quickly and get to freedom faster.

Our book summaries offer quick and easy reads that will save you time and help you decide which books are worth reading in full. We bypass the fluff and get right to the actionable content, so you can get free fast.
